Rumi Engineer is an attorney
practicing Immigration and Naturalization Law in Englewood,
Colorado. Mr. Engineer received a B.A. degree (1962), LL.B. (1965)
and LL.M. (1969) in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. In the U.S.,he
attended Washington University and the University of Denver
College of Law for Master's level programs and received his J.D.
from the University of Denver, College of Law in 1975. He began
his practice in Denver in 1976 and has been practicing immigration
law exclusively since 1977 with a brief spell of working as CEO of
a food manufacturing company.
Mr. Engineer is a Founding Member
of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Colorado
Chapter, and served as its Chairperson from 1982-1983. He is a
member of the Arapahoe County Bar Association, Colorado Bar
Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. In
the past he has been active in the Inter-Pacific Bar Association,
and Australian- American Chamber of Commerce. He has also served
as President of the Asian-American Pacific Bar Association of
Colorado, and was Chairperson for the Colorado Food Manufacturer's
Group from 1985-1986.
Mr. Engineer has served as an
Editor of the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy, has
been an Instructor in Immigration and Nationality Law at the
University of Denver College of Law, International Studies
Program. He is co-editor of "Ethics And Your Immigration
Practice....." (An AILA publication) has published articles and
been an invited speaker on Immigration Law issues at numerous
local and national public forums. In 1992, he received the Dillon
Award of Merit for Outstanding Public Service from the Araphaoe
County Bar Association. Mr. Engineer is listed as a life Member in
the National Registry of Who's Who and in the National Register of
Executives in America. His office has been AV rated by Martindale-Hubbel
and he has been listed in its Directory of Preemminent Lawyers for several years.
